Cariloha Key West, Florida

Cariloha Key WestThis new Cariloha store is independently owned by Peggy Hines (former Del Sol Charleston Owner) but corporately managed. It’s located off Front Street, which connects to the West End Pier Shops, located about 5 minutes walking distance from the Del Sol store on Duval Street. Every cruise passenger who docks at the West End walks by the new Cariloha store.

Key West is known as the southernmost city in the Continental U.S. It’s 129 miles southwest of Miami, Florida and 106 miles north-northeast of Havana, Cuba. In the 20th century, many residents of Key West started referring to themselves as "Conchs," and the term is now generally applied to all residents of Key West. Numerous artists and writers have passed through Key West, but the two most associated with the island are Ernest Hemingway and Tennessee Williams. Two famous Key West natives you may have heard of are David Robinson (San Antonio Spurs) and Bronson Arroyo (Boston Red Sox).

Cariloha Crowns its First King and Queen

Cariloha Crowns its First King and Queen Cariloha's first-crowned royalty rules the ever-growing bamboo kingdom in style. Shelby & Luis Rojas, Onboard Media Port Lecturers on board the Freedom of the Seas cruise ship, are the reigning King and Queen of Cariloha until dethroned by another ambitious Port Lecturer who's hit a higher sales target.

The Rojas aristocrats are currently crushing all previously set cruise ship sales averages - well above normal for any Port Lecturer to sell the Caribbean islands. To earn the throne, and be crowned the King or Queen of Cariloha, Port Lecturers simply become the owner of the all-time Cariloha single ship visit record. It's that easy. The contest runs through August 31, 2009.

Port Lecturers are employees of Onboard Media and Panoff Publishing Inc., which are two promotion companies on board the major cruise ships that promote retail merchants in ports of call throughout the world.

Cariloha Cozumel is Back in Business!

Cariloha Cozumel is Back in BusinessAfter a month-long absence due to the H1N1 strain (swine flu), Cariloha Cozumel is back in business! Cruise ship visits have increased every week in the Cozumel ports, and our store and staff are ready to capitalize on these much-anticipated visits.

Opening the new store after being in a quarantine port means much more to everyone, as we've relocated the store to a prime location in central, downtown Cozumel. It's smack dab in the middle of the two most foot-trafficked cruise ship docks on the island and right next door to the Hard Rock Café. Across the street from the store, vacationers hop on and off the ferry that travels between Playa Del Carmen and Cozumel, trafficking thousands of hotel customers to downtown Cozumel. The store promotes our exclusive bamboo processes and unique bamboo products. Cariloha is the king of bamboo!

The store combines bamboo green, chocolate brown and dove white colors to create a clean, natural motif. The Cozumel staff couldn't be more excited to have the store back in business. Customers have already commented on the look of the new Cariloha build-out. One customer said to her husband: "This is that green I was telling you about...this is the green I love." Another said she wanted to paint her room in our green. Becky and Darren (Cruise Ship Port Lecturers) commented that they LOVED the new look, especially the new colors..."matches perfectly with bamboo." The store inspires thoughts of soft, cool, green, and clean.

The Cariloha store is also strategically placed right next to the Del Sol store. The stores will utilize their close proximity to provide customers with exclusive promotional offers, discounts and product giveaways.

Cariloha’s Grand Bamboo Display Makes Grand Entrance

Cariloha's Grand Bamboo DisplayThis uniquely intriguing display serves as an “ice breaker” for introducing visitors to bamboo and for explaining the process of creating Cariloha’s exclusive bamboo product line. “Our intent was to create a more interactive method for demonstrating bamboo than just telling customers about it,” said Aaron Hobson, Pedersen Worldwide Executive VP of Marketing. “Everyone enjoys a visual representation of what the product and store are all about.”

The display is working, as customers are already being drawn to the store. It’s something out of the every-day. It fulfills the same purpose as the Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland – a focal point that portrays the heart of what they do. It also creates interest in Cariloha’s exclusive Bamboo™ line of products. Most people don’t know about bamboo’s qualities, popularity and how it goes from bamboo stalk to soft apparel.

Cariloha's Jeff Pedersen in a bamboo forest, sporting a bamboo TeeCariloha’s super-soft bamboo shirts are flying off their stores’ shelves almost as quickly as the bamboo grows in nature – up to 4 ft. a day in some cases. Customers love the look and comfort of this eco-friendly bamboo fabric. And, at the affordable price point of $34 /shirt, compared to other high-end T-shirts like Affliction, these Cariloha shirts are a bargain. Most customers are piling them up at the cash register, cashing in on the trend-setting designs, matched by the world’s most comfortable fabric. It’s no wonder that Cariloha’s bamboo apparel and accessories are the buzz of conversation in the islands and on the cruise ships these days. Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Princess, Celebrity and other cruise lines are all touting Cariloha as the place to shop in the Caribbean for bamboo clothing and accessories.

Compared to other textile retailers in the United States and Caribbean, Cariloha’s sales-per-square-foot totals far surpass anyone else in their playing field, setting envious single transaction totals as high as $1,107! You may ask, “What concept of recession does this retailer not understand?” This Cariloha brand certainly hasn’t given much heed to it, bucking trends and selling bamboo as quickly as the cash register will ring up.

Cariloha Introduces World-Exclusive Bamboo Products

Did you know that you can make clothing out of bamboo? And, it’s twice as soft as cotton and 3 degrees cooler?! You can actually feel the difference. Without looking, only using your sense of touch, take a cotton shirt in one hand and a bamboo shirt in the other, and you’ll notice an obvious difference in softness. On top of that, bamboo shirts are antibacterial and moisture wicking, keeping its wearer smelling fresh and looking dry. It makes the perfect gift for anyone walking the streets on a hot, humid day.

That’s why Cariloha has created an exclusive line of bamboo clothing and textiles using its exclusive process for taking a hard bamboo and turning it into a soft, comfy T-shirt. As the store sales associates say: “Live Natural, Stay Cool - Wear Bamboo.” Cariloha’s soft bamboo material was literally a hard bamboo stock at one time; like you see in tropical forests or on tiki huts. What the Cariloha Company does is apply their exclusive process of harvesting, seasoning, husking, and separating the fibers into thread, which is then cut and sewn into Cariloha Bamboo™ clothing. “Our aim is to give customers the opportunity – advertently or not – to keep the world green and clean,” said Guenix Cheranfant, Cariloha Jamaica Manager. “It’s truly a comfy way to save the world!”
